Folic acid supplementation increases maternal methylated folate (5-mthf) status. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 400 μg of folic acid for at least one month before conception and up to three months after conception. Maternal consumption of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) contributes to the normal brain and eye development of the foetus.

This product can be taken as a course or continuously throughout the time you are trying for a baby.

Baby Bump : Take 2 capsules per day during a meal (to avoid nausea on an empty stomach), in 2 separate doses to make them easier to take (morning and evening, or lunchtime and evening if you do not eat breakfast). Ideally, take them with healthy fats, such as eggs.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

What does Fertility support pack contain?

Baby Bump provides 400 µg in the form of Quatrefolic®, the active, patented form of 5-MTHF, which can be absorbed directly by the body (1). During this periconceptional period, insufficient vitamin B9 (methylated folate (5-mthf)) intake could increase the risk of neural tube defects*.

ANSES issued an expert opinion highlighting how common dietary deficiencies in iron, iodine and vitamin B9 (methylated folate (5-mthf)) are among pregnant women, even with an optimised diet*.

Women of childbearing age consume most micronutrients in amounts below official recommendations, which helps explain how common deficiencies are. This was highlighted by the INCA 3** study, which examined the dietary habits of people in France in detail. For example, iodine requirements are set at 200μg during pregnancy, but average intake among women aged 18 to 44 is just 129μg.

In this group, vitamin B9 intake is around 267μg, well below the 600μg recommended during pregnancy. Intakes below recommendations are also observed for magnesium, calcium, iron, copper, zinc and most vitamins.
